WHO ARE WE
The Northern Lights Fiction Writers is situated in the Rainy River District of Northwest Ontario, Canada, in the Rainy River District.
Its members participate in fiction writing through a variety of genre. Their goal is to equip the writers of Northwest Ontario with a voice, support, and the tools necessary in allowing them to be taken seriously in the Canadian fiction writing marketplace.
The beauty and isolation of the area lends little support to those interested in making fiction writing a career choice. It does, however, through its rich history and diverse population, hold much fodder for all types of artistic endeavor.
This group offers a finger on the pulse of the fiction marketplace, as well as a platform for sharing with other fiction writers. We hold workshops and courses, both over the internet and at ground venue, throughout the year. All designed to increase a fiction writer's skill in the art, craft, and business of writing.
Through this group, members can access many professional services, such as: editing, proofreading, critiquing, story, plot and character developmental consultation, and mentoring. These services, along with the courses offered can assist you in creating, formatting, and preparing your manuscript for the publishing world.
Membership for this group is $59.00 Canadian funds, yearly. Dues are to be due on the 1st day of January each year. Those joining after July 1st, will pay $25.00 for the remainder of the year with full dues to be due on January of the next year.
Those joining after September 1st, will pay $15.00 for the remainder of the year with full dues to be due on January of the next year.
These dues will allow us to create and maintain a group website (independant from this, my personal site), as well as allowing for contest prizes, courses, and workshop creation.
It is our desire to see an interest in fiction writing grow, throughout the north, through the sharing of this group.
